SoundNote Help & Support
This page sits alongside the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use, and describes what the app actually does. If your question is not covered here, please email us.
1. Contact and feedback
- Email: [email protected]
- In the app: About → Feedback (opens your mail client with this device's diagnostics log attached, which speeds things up)
Please include your device model, iOS version, app version and the steps to reproduce.
2. “To text” does nothing
Voice-to-text relies on the system speech engine, which is not available on the simulator — use a real device.
- The first hold-to-talk asks for Microphone and then Speech Recognition permission;
- If you denied either by accident, re-enable them in Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone / Speech Recognition;
- Recognition is performed by the system speech engine; to produce a transcript, the audio you speak may be processed by Apple's speech recognition service (handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy). The app itself runs no server and neither receives nor stores your audio or transcripts; recording, storage and playback of voice notes happen entirely on device.
3. Reminders or alarms do not fire
- Check that Settings → Notifications → SoundNote allows notifications and sound;
- Check Focus mode, Low Power Mode and Background App Refresh;
- The system caps the number of pending notifications, so far-off one-shot reminders are enrolled automatically as they come near — this is expected;
- “Alarm” tasks additionally ring full-screen on iOS 26 and later, bypassing silent mode.
4. Widgets do not refresh
Widgets refresh on the system's own schedule and the app cannot force it. Opening the app once re-publishes the snapshot immediately and the cards follow. If you just added a card, give it a moment.
5. Do I keep my purchase on a new phone?
Yes. The membership is tied to your Apple ID. Sign in with the same Apple ID on the new device and tap “Restore Purchase” in the app — there is no need to pay again.
6. Will I lose data if I uninstall?
Yes. Every task, note and recording lives only on this device, so uninstalling erases them for good, and we hold no server-side copy that could restore them.
Please export an encrypted backup regularly from Settings → Backup & Export and keep it somewhere safe. Keep the backup passphrase safe as well — a lost passphrase means the backup cannot be decrypted.
7. Can I move my data to a new phone?
Yes: export an encrypted backup on the old phone, then import that file on the new one (same passphrase). Recordings are included in the backup.
8. Version history
